RCM Practical Exams

In my studio, I encourage students to take RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) practical violin exams because they provide clear goals, structure, and a internationally recognized standard of achievement. These exams help students build strong technical skills, develop disciplined practice habits, and gain performance confidence through a well-rounded curriculum that includes repertoire, études, scales, and ear training.

RCM exams also offer valuable feedback from experienced adjudicators, helping students understand their strengths and areas for improvement. Most importantly, they foster a sense of accomplishment and motivation, giving students tangible milestones to celebrate along their musical journey.

Studio Recitals

Recitals will usually be scheduled for the last Saturday of every month, with scheduled exceptions. All students are expected and encouraged to participate in monthly recitals where they will be given the opportunity to perform repertoire they have been working on to a receptive and encouraging audience of family, friends and peers. Celebrating each other’s progress and effort is a vital part of our studio community.

RCM Theory Exams

RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) theory examinations are an essential part of a classical violin student's development. These exams build a strong foundation in music literacy, helping students understand key concepts such as harmony, form, rhythm, and musical structure—all of which directly enhance their performance skills.

Theory exams are offered usually in 3 different sessions annually that you can choose from - May, August, and December. Please visit the RCM website linked below for more information.
